Fish Oregon Alaska--KRGA

Where are we fishing NOW?

"Steelhead landed 3-24-07 on the upper Rogue using a worm and a Pautzke egg. This was my last day on the Rogue River until this fall...see you in Alaska"-Randy

" I drove the Alcan Hwy in April 2007 with my daughter Maggie. We saw a Black and a Brown Bear, Moose, Caribou, Deer, and Mountain Goats. It is a trip I suggest to everyone. I look forward to seeing you all in Alaska this year; lets go get some fish!!"" -Randy

" 5-8-07 was the first day out Halibut fishing. 3 people fishing 92ft of water and 20 miles out, and 5 hours fishing. We landed over 20 halibut and they were all in the 30 lb range. They're not huge but they were GOOD EATIN'. I expect the bigger fish to be coming in soon. I start Salmon fishing on May 15, 2007. Kings are being caught already!!"-Randy

"7-7-07 The fishing in Homer is great, action is fast; we landed over 20 halibut and lost one that broke a rod and burnt the reel, but what a fight!"-Randy

"7-9-07 Fished the Kenai today from noon to 4pm. The fish are finally here. I saw over 20 fish landed and my buddy and I hooked 6 and landed 4, kept 1. From now until the end of the month the King fishing will be red-hot!!"-Randy

"7-12-07 The fish are here and the bite was on today. This fish is about 25in long. It was cold and wet but it paid off today by 10am!"-Randy

"7-23-07 Well what a month July has been. I have fished everyday since the 1st, many days on the Kenai chasing kings and now the great mass of Sockeye Salmon have shown up. The river is producing 30-60 thousand salmon per day. It is impossible to not catch a fish every other cast. This week will be the best week for king fishing with over 2000 new kings per day in the river. Also, I have been fishing out of Seward for Lingcod, Halibut, and Silver Salmon. I have been so busy cleaning and catching fish I have not gotten pictures of them all, but her are a few. The guy in the NY hat, this is his first fish ever caught. The two guys standing in front of the table of Silver Salmon are Matt and his dad. On that day we landed over 20 Halibut, a grip of 5-8lb Sea Bass, 15 Silver Salmon, 5 Yellow Eye, and we lost a massive number of other fish. Then there is me red faced with a Sockeye Salmon in my mouth showing off my Willie Hat, what a great hat. Well good fishing to you all..." -Randy

7-27-06 Well what a week it has been. There is only one day left in the King season. today we landed three kings before 11am. Two were over 50lbs and one was over 30lbs. then in the afternoon we had on three kings and landed one king about 12lbs. Look at the happy faces and the huge king picks. The last week of July is the best time to catch monster kings. Next month we will be targeting wild Silver Salmon on ultra-lite gear, what a had full that will be. See you in Alaska... Good fishing

"7-28-07 10:30am As we were fighting this fish we were floating down river, the fish was 20ft between the boat and the bank. We tried three times to move the fish two the middle of the river. After five minutes we though the fish was ready to net, he wasn't. The fish darted towards the bank and under a fallen log. The boat floated down river on one side of the log and the fish swam on the other side of the log. With excitement and fear of losing the fish, I yelled to the angler " drop the rod in the water and let it float under the log, then grab it!" Like it had been rehearsed, the angler did just as told, for a split second the fish had beaten us with the log move, but with quick movement and good luck the rod nor the fish were lost. It was an amazing thing to see a G.Loomis rod and a 50lb king salmon drifting under a massive tree log and then seeing my angler retrieve the rod and land the fish. This was by far the toughest landing I had this year. Thanks to a good rod and a good fisherman, the fish was landed." -Randy

"8-13-07 I'll be fishing in Seward the rest of the season. On 8-9-07 we had a full day and a full boat of fish. Five people fishing and we kept, 10 Halibut one weighed 117lbs the rest were in the 25-35 lb class. Also, 25 Sea Bass in the 5-8lb class, one Silver Salmon, 5 Yellow eye in the 8lb class, 5 Ling Cod all over 40 inches one over 50 inches. Then, for the next two days I was fishing two groups per/day and boating from 12-14 Silver Salmon per group, this is a nice photo from 9-12-07. The fishing out of Seward is grand from May-Sept. Currently the Seward Silver Salmon derby is happening, what a blast is has been Good Fishing" -Randy

"9-13-07 The last week of August was spent fishing with friends and family. The silver Salmon fishing on the river was hot but the fishing out of Seward was by far the best day after day for the last week and the whole season. Look forward to fishing in Oregon this winter. Will start fishing on Oct 1st. These three picks are my mom with two silvers she caught back-bouncing on the Kasilof River, My friend Fuzz with two silvers he caught casting Blue Fox spinners on the Kenai and my dad with a big Rainbow he caught rolling a bead on a Buzz Ramsay Air IM7 Rod. See you all on the water. Finaly there is a pick with my friend Fuzz and I in Seward on the last day of the season. We landed two Ling Cod over 40lbs some Chicken Halibut and a limit of large Sea Bass. What a great season Good Fishing" -Randy
